BentoBox alternative

You can't actually buy BentoBox any more

Not as a shutdown — existing customers are still served, and this is nothing like GloriaFood's April 2027 end-of-service. But if you're choosing a platform today, BentoBox is no longer on the table unless you're taking Clover's POS with it. That's from BentoBox's own website, not from us.

What their site says

"BentoBox is now Clover"

Visit getbento.com today and every page resolves to a single notice. Its FAQ answers the question directly:

"What if I'm a new customer interested in signing up for BentoBox services?"

"Currently, BentoBox products/services are only available to Clover POS customers."

Existing customers are pointed at their customer success manager. Fiserv, Clover's owner, completed the acquisition in November 2021; the product has since been folded into the Clover ecosystem and is no longer marketed independently to new restaurants.

Checked August 2026 at getbento.com. If BentoBox reopens to standalone customers this page will be out of date — check their site before relying on it either way.

What it means for you

Three situations, three different answers

You wanted Clover POS anyway

Then take the bundle — genuinely. One supplier for tills, payments and website, on one contract and one support line, is worth real money. We don't sell a POS, and bolting a separate ordering platform onto a POS you're already buying from is usually the worse setup.

You wanted the website, not the till

This is the case that just got harder. Taking a POS you didn't want in order to get a website is an expensive way round, and it ties your ordering to your card terminals. A standalone platform keeps those decisions separate.

You're already on BentoBox

Nothing is being switched off, so there's no rush. But it's worth knowing your platform's independent roadmap is now Clover's roadmap — and worth checking you can export your menu, customers and order history on demand, before you ever need to.

Where we fit

Ordering without a POS commitment

No POS required

Ontabee runs standalone and integrates with whatever till you already have. Your ordering platform and your card terminals stay separate decisions, so changing one doesn't force the other.

No per-order fee

$0, $49 or $99 a month flat, with no commission and nothing added to your guest's bill. Payments settle to your own gateway at your own negotiated rate.

Export on demand

Menu, customers and order history, whenever you want them, in a usable format — not only on the way out. The ability to leave is what keeps a platform honest.

Questions

Commonly asked

Can I still sign up for BentoBox?

Not on its own. getbento.com now states that "BentoBox products/services are only available to Clover POS customers" and directs anyone new to Clover's POS. Its own site says "BentoBox is now Clover". If you are not already a Clover POS customer, BentoBox is not something you can buy standalone. Checked August 2026.

What happened to BentoBox?

Fiserv, which owns Clover, completed its acquisition of BentoBox in November 2021. It has since been folded into the Clover ecosystem and is no longer marketed as an independent product to new customers. Existing customers are directed to their customer success manager for changes.

Is BentoBox shutting down?

No — and it should not be confused with GloriaFood, which has a published end-of-service date of 30 April 2027. Existing BentoBox customers continue to be served. What has changed is that it is no longer sold as a standalone product, so new restaurants cannot choose it without also taking Clover POS.

What is the best BentoBox alternative?

It depends why you are looking. If you want a restaurant website with ordering and no POS commitment, Ontabee is $49/month for one location and $99/month for 2–9, commission-free, with your own payment gateway. If you were considering BentoBox because you want Clover POS anyway, taking the bundle is a perfectly sensible choice.
